marlin 336

Whats going on gang, been a while since i posted here. :36_1_63:
I'm looking really hard at marlin 336 for my deer rifle. I had to get rid of most my guns dew to money situation i had but now I'm back on track and it's time to restore what has been lost.
What are your thoughts on lever 30-30 as a meat harvester/defense rifle? At my local walmart they have them for $319 and the ammo is alot cheaper then 30-06 or 308. Plus I wouldn't mine setting up to reload in this caliber.
Let me know what ya'll think.
thanks

I have one and it's my favorite rifle. Built like no other and fun to shoot. At $319 it's a deal you can't pass up.

How available is the 30-30 ammo?

I was looking at that one too, I checked one out at a local shop
and I really liked it.

Agree 110%. Great rifle, great deal. The Marlin 336 should be including in any list of great American firearms. Sure, the .30-30 round is a compromise, but if you laid every deer killed in the US by it, end to end... well you get the idea. :ok:

What I like about the 336, it has good lethality and no one will give it a passing glance, as opposed to black rifles and it is built like a tank. Every patriot should own one.

What! You haven't bought it yet? What are you waiting on! It's a great rifle, I have two, one in 30-30 and another in .44 mag.

The 30-30 is one of the oldest cartridges surviving from the past - most of its contemporaries didn't make it to the future. To my understanding, one of the most popular of all time. That sounds like a good price for an excellant rifle to me.

I bought a Marlin lever action .22 back in the mid 70s, probably 1973 or 74.

Walnut stock, a beautiful gun. I think it was a 336D, not sure, maybe a 39.

Only thing is, it only cost about $105 back then.

I had to sell it to pay a speeding ticket. That still hurts.

I bought a Winchester 30-30 lever action model 94 15 years ago for $130 used and love it as well as the cartridge. I think the Winchester looks better than the Marlin but everyone tells me the Marlin is better and kicks less.
Do they make a stainless 336?

Murdering deer since 1917+- . Can not go wrong in the woods or under 150 yards.

Its king of the Mo Ozarks deer rifles.

Good sounding price.

+1

My 336 wearing a Leupold 2.5X will put three Winchester 170 PPs into an inch @100 yards...

Go for it.

Right, I've never seen a 336 for under $350. It's a steal!

Great rifle! I have the .444 short barrel version for, uh..you know...elephants! Yep!
Actually the stubby big bore is perfect in the oak scrub I hunt in as most shots are 40 yards or less. and ya don't want them running off.

Re: marlin 336

I found a used one in a local pawn shop for 300$.

Tomorrow if it's still there I'm grabbing it.
I don't know alot about lever guns but this one looked
really well cared for...or just underused.

I would really like to have a more GP non-scary looking
rifle.
